Business Flyer

The business I chose to promote is a video game store call Gaming Junky. I used different font sizes to in order to make certain areas of text stand out more than others. The name of the store is in the largest size so that it is easy to read. I also wrote the text on a typing path to give it an abstract look. On the left side of the flyer I gathered a bunch of well-known video game icons. I cropped, scaled and created clipping paths to take out any unwanted space. I used a bulleted list of what exactly we have to offer. For the store information I used the same heading style for the Location, Hours, and Phone Number. The background of the flyer is a light blue, and I added a four point black border. (Not the same flyer that was submitted for my Semester 1 project)

CD Cover I used one image that I found online and cropped it, and scaled it to create the background of the front of the cd cover. I used Rosewood bold face font for the title of the band to make it stand out and used a simple Arial bold face font for the title of the album. I changed the color of the text to yellow so that the text is easy to read on the blue background. On the back of the cover I used the eye dropper to collect a color from the front cover so that the two colors are similar. On the blue background I typed the entire font in yellow to keep similarity between the front and back covers. I used the same size and font for the title of the band. I used a number list for the tracks on the album. I created a simple logo using the oval tool and polygon tool. The barcode was just copied from a random bar code that I found online.

     

To catch the reader’s attention I wrote “BRING IT ON!!!” in large, Times New Roman bold face font. Anyone who sees this will ask themselves, “bring what on??”, underneath the heading in a smaller bold face explains what is to be brought on. In even smaller lettering below that line I give the date of the event and the time it will be going on. I used different font sizes to punctuate what is important and to grab the viewers attention. On the left side I made a bulleted list of the different games that will be played. On the right side I stated that there will be a prize to the winners with a picture of cash and a trophy that I had to crop and scale to size. The location of the event is listed in the bottom left corner. I positioned all of the information on the advertisement to be organized and neat. The picture of cash and trophy is to lure the reader to enter in the tournament, because no one can resist an easy opportunity to win a little extra money. The text is all in black ink and the background is yellow. I like this combination because the black lettering looks really good on a yellow background.

Fire Effect

Using Photoshop I was able to creat the illusion that the text is on fire. By rasterizing, using wind style, transforming the text by rotating, adding a blur effect and ripple effect, and then modifing the color, this became possible.
